Proposal Guidelines

Cycle VIII: 2008

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS, CYCLE VIII  15 March, 2008
for residencies between April and December 2008

 

1.  For artists with little or no practical experience:
Artists wishing to explore holography for their first time are invited to submit proposal ideas. All selected awardees will be carefully assisted wherever needed through this exploration. Residencies are for 5 studio shooting days, artists can work over a longer period if their project requires onsite preparation. A brief introduction to holography will be followed by production of the master hologram and a transfer into a holographic artwork. (film valued up to $250.)

2.  For experienced Holographic Artists:
We suggest that one carefully designed artwork is preferable over an expectation of numerous artworks. This work may be accomplished as a part of a larger installation or self-supporting concept. Residencies are for 5 studio shooting days, which can be spread over more than one week for preparation or development purposes. The project can be entirely the creation of pulsed masters or a pulsed master with transfer (film valued up to $250.)

Submissions:

- A brief, one-page descriptions of project.
- Support material can be in the form of drawings, photographs, digital images (JPEGs), PDF files, QuickTime videos (on CD/DVD), or DVDs and VHS video tape (NTSC format) NO SLIDES PLEASE.
- Artist Bio/CV
        Please include stamped self-addressed mailer, if you wish return of
        your support materials.

Applications are judged by an independent jury of art professionals.
Each application is judged first by the interest and artistic merit of the proposed project
and secondly by the artist's previous work .
